5 Quick Things

Project 365, Day 71/365

And we made it to Friday! Thank you for your words of encouragement yesterday (and all week). While creatively, I’m still a bit slumpy dumpy, emotionally, things turned around, thankfully. Just once of those days, hm? Physically, that’s still an uphill battle, but I said something to Charles Wednesday night that maybe will help someone else. He wanted to get ice cream for lillordag (as I mentioned), but he didn’t want to push it knowing that I wasn’t feeling that great. I was quick to brush off his request, committed to spending the night in bed. But then I figured, I’m going to feel badly whether I’m in bed or whether I’m out in the fresh air eating ice cream, so I think I chose fresh air and ice cream. Simple, not-so-groundbreaking concept, yes, but sometimes the simple notions are the ones that hit home the most.

I hope a handful of you have some fun plans to look forward to this weekend…maybe I’ll get around to painting, or maybe I won’t. I’ll let you know what happens. 🙂

Quick Thing #1

For any Great British Bake Off fans, you might enjoy watching Nadiya Bakes on Netflix as much as I did. Lately, I watch cooking shows less to learn or get inspired to make anything and more for entertainment and I find Nadiya adorable. I liked her show Nadiya’s Time to Eat, but found it a bit weird that her first go on Netflix wasn’t a baking show, considering she had won, oh, you know, a BAKING show. Anyway, I got through it quickly and it just made me feel happy and light.

Quick Thing #2

I’m really enjoying this night cream from First Aid Beauty. My skin, which is typically pretty reliably combination, was all of a sudden flaky and dry. Desert winters I suppose. I tried upping my water intake, slathered oils on my skin, but it was still so tight and chapped. I’ve liked FAB’s moisturizers in the past, and decided to try out their Ultra-Repair Hydra-Firm Night Cream and in just a day or two, things were feeling much more balanced and, another plus, really soft! I was afraid it might make my face overly oily or break out because it’s really thick, but so far, so good (and it’s been a few weeks).

Quick Thing #3

You may or may not know this about me, but I’m not big on DIY. I want to be, but I’m not very good at staying motivated through a project. Need I remind you about the dining chairs that sat unfinished in the corner of my BEDROOM for three years before I gave them away for free. But just because I’m more “buy” than “DIY” in my actions doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate someone else’s efforts. I saw this console table from Joinery and Design Co. and I was so impressed! At first glance, I really thought it was the piece from Lulu & Georgia they were actually duping. If you’re interested in knowing how they made it, they chronicled the process in a story highlight here. Color me seriously impressed.

Quick Thing #4

I’m starting to get a chocoholic complex because I’m pretty sure the last several weeks of 5QT posts have included something chocolate. I don’t care enough to make apologies. And while last week’s chocolate orange loaf turned out to be a bust, I can wholeheartedly recommend these double chocolate crinkle cookies. They are spectacular. If a brownie and a cookie had delicious dessert babies, it would be these. Brookie? Cooknie?

Quick Thing #5

And finally, not anything for you to experience in particular, but I’m getting acupuncture for the first time today (Friday), and I’m excited and nervous and can’t wait to report back about my experience. Anyone else ever done it? What should I expect? Eek!

See you tomorrow, friends.
