5 Quick Things
Project 365, Day 93/365
Didn’t I just write one of these? THAT’S A GOOD FEELING. Except I said to Charles, not two minutes ago, as I got off the sofa from watching Kid 90, that Soleil Moon Frye documentary on Hulu, “How is it not the weekend yet? This has been a painfully long week.” But again, things can feel slow and instant all at once, huh? Let’s get into it, because the quicker I write this, the quicker it actually becomes Friday for me (reminder: I write a day before you read, for anyone who may be popping by and don’t know why I’m always speaking in the past tense). You’re reading this…from the future.
Quick Thing #1
This is one of two things from Instagram I’m sharing today. I make no apologies, because they’re both great. I enjoy the heck out of Jessie Sheehan, but her Reels in particular make me laugh and smile and are just a true delight. Jessie is a baker, so her account is mostly her in her kitchen, whipping up some goodies. She loves to make snacking cakes, and I’m sorry but…we all need more snacking cakes in our lives.
Quick Thing #2
Charles I recently finished listening to this podcast called The Apology Line. I love a mini-series, because it has a beginning and an ending, which is why I also like podcasts like that. That’s not to say I don’t enjoy the heck out of My Favorite Murder and the like, but I can appreciate the art that is tying something up with a bow and sending it off into the world. Anyway, it was interesting. I won’t say much about it besides this very brief synopsis: An artist in 1970s Manhattan decides to open a phone line, with an answering machine on the other end, and let people call in to make any apologies they want to make. It’s not exactly a very light or uplifting listen, but it’s a handful of episodes and just something new to do.
Quick Thing #3
I have my friend Caitlin to thank for this new exfoliating towel she introduced the world to in an article she wrote about her “special shower.” I don’t have the patience she has for so many steps, but I did pick these up and I have to tell you, they’re so great. While I invest time and money into my face, I’m utter crap at the rest of my skin, never exfoliating, never moisturizing. It’s a marvel I don’t currently look like a discarded pleather purse right now. It’s dry out here in the desert that is LA, so it’s due time I make scrubbing addition to my weekly routine (then I’ve been slathering this oil on after the fact).
Quick Thing #4
Where has Shelby from Pretty in the Pines been all this time? I stumbled upon this YouTube video of her rental dining room makeover, and it’s so pretty! I love seeing people get creative in their rentals and transform blank canvases into special spaces. The Command Strip molding = genius.

Just to really flank this week’s 5QT, I’ll end on this snippet I saw this evening of a little 2-year-old boy, marveling at the moon. It’s probably one of the sweetest things I’ve seen in a long, long time. Watch any instance you need a pick me up. Or you know, just ’cause.
