A Bank of Ideas, From You, Readers

Project 365, Day 160/365

A little over a week ago, I wrote a blog post entitled “Sometimes, Writing Everyday Sucks.” I was in a bit of a writing funk. I find that I have at least one day a week where I just stare at my screen, watching the cursor blink, mocking me and my lack of ideas for what to write. That usually leads me to spiral a bit, depending on my actual mood. “Maybe I shouldn’t do this anymore.” “Nothing would happen if I just stopped.” You know…we all get these thoughts.

Some of you, dear readers, were kind enough to throw out some ideas for what I could do on those days, and Susan had a great one: ask YOU want you want me to write about, so I could pull from it when I need to. She also suggested I throw out a topic or question and let you all do the writing! Both fantastic thoughts. I figured today was as good a day as any for the former, however.

You know how everyone does those “Ask Me Anything!” prompts on Instagram stories? Well, I’ve done a few, and the last time I tried, I got literally two questions. One was about curtains, the other was asking if I’d design their house. Flattering, but not exactly what I was after. So I’m taking it to the blog where I’m thinking I’ll get a bit more engagement. I did ask for design questions a while back (many were hyper-specific), so I still have that, but I’d love to know what other questions you have for me about…anything: my life, general career advice, best advice ever given o me, design, food, where I buy petite jeans, hobbies, home shopping guides, go-to skincare brands, favorite cereal, movies, my preferred anything, biggest pet peeves (ha, already did that one)…honestly whatever. It can either be something I write just for fun, or to actually help. Or maybe it’s a short little prompt that I answer and kick it over to you! Community is what makes a blog go from a journal to a place to be, and that’s what we’re growing here. No better way to do that than to come together in the comments and get to know one another.

I’ve also realized that as life slowly starts shifting again, and there are more things to do, it may be harder and harder for me to avoid the siren call of life. It’s easy to commit to sitting down every single day for a year when there is literally nothing else to do. But as that changes—and it has already started—I know it’s going to be a huge juggling act, so anything to help me out will be very appreciated. I know this is MY project, and you don’t need to be burdened by my lack of creativity or ideas, but something tells me, no one here will mind my prompt too much. 🙂

So, I’ll leave you to the questions or prompts for me (or others) in the comments. Can’t wait to see what you all cook up.

See you tomorrow, FOAS.
