A New Podcast, Anxiety-Taming Powder, The Best $8 T-Shirt: 5 Quick Things

Project 365, Day 127/365

You know what’s almost impossibly hard? Returning back to work after a handful of days off. OOF. But I chanted to myself every time I got a bit stressed “you can do what you can do and you’re doing your best.” Because you know what? We all are. There will always be emails. There will always be messages pinging at you. What can get done will get done, and everything else can wait. Though I will say it made it much easier coming back on a Thursday knowing I didn’t have a full week ahead of me. Life hack?

Tomorrow, Charles and I get our second vaccine doses and I’m preparing myself to be knocked on my tushy from it by at least tomorrow night, but hopefully, I’ll be okay enough to come around these parts and write something. Either way, I’ll pop in and say hi, even if all I can muster is literally just that: hi. bye. See you tomorrow. 🙂

But for today, let’s see what quick things I have for us all:

Quick Thing #1

My acupuncturist turned me on to Natural Vitality Calm, which is a magnesium supplement powder to help calm my nerves and anxieties. And I have to tell you…it really works. I’ve been taking it once a day and I noticed a difference maybe 15-20 minutes after sipping it in some bubbly water. I bought the raspberry-lemon flavor which is actually pretty tasty if you can stand the after taste of stevia (I kind of hate that, but I tolerate it here). I’m no doctor, so don’t take this as any kind of medical advice pretty please and maybe ask your doctor about it, but it’s been pretty great for calming me down a bit and easing my mind.

Quick Thing #2

Have I professed my love for this $8 T-shirt yet? I’m funny about my T-shirts because I feel like for someone with a larger chest or fluffy tummy, they can be quite tricky. You don’t want something overly thick or tight because it’ll give you uni-boob, you won’t want something that clings for, well, obvious reasons, and you anything with a straight-across hem just makes you look boxy. The rounded hem on this is GLORIOUS for my petite round frame and the fabric is so comfortable and washes really well. They have this in crew neck, V-neck, printed and solids. I just linked to some of the fun summery solids, but just do a search for “EveryWear Slub-Knit” and you’ll find the collection.

Quick Thing #3

This article on Zoom fatigue and how it’s actually worse for women hit home for me. It went into what it is about video calls in particular is so much more exhausting and draining than in-person meetings. I don’t know about you, but on any given week, I might have 10 Zoom calls…and I dread every single one of them. When my 10-minute warning pops up, I run to attempt to make myself look presentable (something I sincerely doubt any man I work with is doing, btw), and get distracted by staring at the weird things my hair is doing, or how one of my front teeth looks a little funny or how my double chin is extra pronounced at that angle. I’m so over it…(but also don’t make me come back to an office…and also leave me alone and let me finish my friggin work).

Quick Thing #4

A tiny bit obsessed with this wood wavy headboard I just bookmarked. Will I ever decide on a bed and move forward with my bedroom design?!?

Quick Thing #5

My beloved Glennon Doyle announced this week that she’s launching a new podcast, called—what else?—We Can Do Hard Things. The first episode releases this upcoming Tuesday, but you can listen to the promo for the show to see if you’re interested. I’ll be listening, and will always welcome some listening buddies. 🙂

See you tomorrow, FOAS.
