Ask the Audience: What Blogs or Websites Do You Visit Regularly?
Project 365, Day 64/365
I can remember a time 10 or 12 years ago when I visited at least a dozen blogs and websites on a daily rotation. Maybe I’d miss one or two on a given Wednesday, but it was such a part of my daily ritual. Of course, this was in the heyday of blogging, but I was also a “fashion” blogger at the time and vigilant about seeing what everyone else was up to. It wasn’t just online publishers and writers I’d check in on, either. Anytime I went to the bookstore or the market, I’d grab a magazine or two.
But I was sitting at my computer recently and found myself incredibly stuck on where to go…what to read. While my book intake has grown significantly in the last month or two (and by “grown” I mean went from being completely flatlined for years to having a healthy pulse), I find that I don’t really know anymore where to go online to read. I check up on my friends over at Style by Emily Henderson daily, I scroll through Cup of Jo a few times a week, occasionally I’ll hop on a design website if I’m looking for something or I wrote something or a friend wrote something, but…that’s kind of it. Outside of coming across an article I want to read through a friend who shared something, or maybe even something I swiped up on from a social media follow, I come up short on where to frequent.
So I want to turn it over to you readers, because I’m curious if outside of popping in here daily or occasionally, where else do you go? What else are you reading? If you yourself have a blog or a place to see your writing, please also share that (I do not hold a monopoly on your eyeballs)!
I love a good essay on almost any topic (obviously), great reporting (journalism degree here), short stories and compelling Q&As or profiles. I’ve quite enjoyed some articles recently at The New Yorker, Fast Company, The Cut, The Atlantic, Repeller, and Food 52. But those are all proper publishers. Who is out there as just a person, writing good stuff? Who can I support doing the same thing that I try to do every day? Who do you love, and why?
Also, I want to encourage readers who don’t regularly comment to join in. I’d love to hear from you if you have something to share, please! All answers and suggestions welcome. I can’t wait to see what everyone says and look forward to finding some new voices to follow.
See you tomorrow, friends!
