Colors, Hot Dogs, Flowy Dresses: My Weekly Gratitudes

Project 365, Day 166/365

Someone recently asked me why I take a post every week and dedicate it to gratitudes. They didn’t ask it in any which way. There was no tone or animosity behind the questioning. They were just curious. I can’t exactly remember how I started this, but I know it was early on in January when I first began Project 365. I sat down one Monday, and just felt like I needed to set my weekly intentions, and start with all the small and large things I was grateful for. Gratitude helps keep me grounded, and happy. It’s really just for me; my personal gratitudes provide nothing for you except for the fact that they open up room for you to reflect on your own and share them with us. It’s a practice that’s really grown on me. Writing down my own gratitudes on Monday night, reading all of your gratitudes on Tuesday throughout the day.

It’s light, airy, down-to-earth and always puts a smile on my face no matter what’s going on around me. So, as I edge closer to marking nearly full months of daily writing, I look forward to going back at the end of the year and looking back at all the things I held in my heart every week as something that I was thankful for. Like a little scrapbook of warmth.

Here is what I’m grateful for this week:

I’m grateful for having fun.

I’m grateful for slow Sunday mornings with nowhere to be.

I’m grateful for vaccines (so, so grateful).

I’m grateful for days when my body feels almost normal for a decent stretch of time.

I’m grateful for more foods to eat that don’t seem to make things worse.

I’m grateful for the occasional hot dog (at a baseball game!) I allowed myself.

I’m grateful for flowy dresses on hot summer days.

I’m grateful for comfy sneakers.

I’m grateful that I was born into an exceptionally loving family.

I’m grateful for my past.

I’m grateful our eyes can see such beautiful colors and things.

I’m grateful for you, readers.

See you tomorrow, FOAS.
