Mascara, Fall Baking, Laughter: My Weekly Gratitudes
Every week, as I sit down to take stock of the small and large things in my life that I’m grateful for, I wonder what I’m going to write. I’m grateful for nearly everything. I have so much good in my life, how could I possibly pick a few things to jot down. But once I get started, I have to stop myself before the list gets too long and I’m just repeating myself from the weeks prior. I’m grateful that I have so much to be grateful for. Even in moments when it feels like you can’t win, or you’re feeling really down, going through the practice of gratitude can really turn your spirit around. If you’re going through a tough time or even just feeling like you’re in a rut, give it a go. Sit down, start writing…anything that comes to mind, even if it’s “I’m grateful I opened my eyes today” or “I’m grateful for peanut butter.” Doesn’t matter, write it down, and when you’re ready to stop, go back, read through your list, and realize how much good there is all around you.
Here’s what came to me this week:
I’m grateful for a quiet weekend where I got to spend just-me time organizing, resting, baking.
I’m grateful I got through the physical work of a photoshoot last week without being completely broken.
I’m grateful for my little rascally 3-year-old nephew that I got to FaceTime with today and giggle at how his mind works.
I’m grateful for patient friends who understand I can’t always be available, but keep loving me anyway.
I’m grateful for hand lotion that smells sooo good.
I’m grateful for mascara because I was not blessed with long, thick lashes.
I’m grateful for the smell of warm spices as I bake, signally some semblance of fall.
I’m grateful for a husband who supports me nearly without question when I say randomly “Can you drive me to several different Targets to pick up props, plus go get flowers, plus…plus…plus” without warning on a Thursday after work.
I’m grateful for a good night’s sleep after numerous restless nights. (This one I’m trying to manifest for tonight…)
I’m grateful for laughter.
I’m grateful for my mom and dad.
I’m grateful for modern medicine.
I’m grateful for fresh produce (something I have very little of in my house at the moment…which is why I’m grateful for it…because I know how gross I feel without its constant presence in my diet).
I’m grateful for books.
I’m grateful for you, readers.
See you tomorrow, FOAS.
