Rule-Breaking Design, The Pasta Queen, Dry Shampoo: 5 Quick Things
We’re here! We made it! I write this fueled by the healthy intention of a kale caesar salad from Sweetgreen, made even better by a mug full of mint chocolate chip ice cream as a chaser (anyone else prefer to eat ice cream out of a mug?!?). Balance, okay? I know a few of you called me out yesterday when I said no one wanted to read my writings about not wanting to write. I promise I wasn’t being self-deprecating, I just didn’t have anything interesting to say or any desire to even ramble about non-interesting things. ANYWAY, today is a new day and I’m here to share a few things with you.
Quick Thing #1
While this house isn’t exactly my style, there was something so welcoming, calm and perfectly imperfect about it that I just looked at it over and over again. So many things we see these days are so stiffly and unrealistically styled for photography, so I appreciated the looser style here.
Quick Thing #2
I love a crowd-sourced blog post chockful of useful things. This post is a goldmine of seemingly awesome recipes. I felt pretty inspired to try out some new things just skimming the comments this morning.
Quick Thing #3
I’ve tried a lot of dry shampoos in my time. Some make my hair really stiff and sticky. Others are overly fragrant. Others that are made specifically for brunettes turn my scalp brown and shed color all day on my clothes (disaster). I could write a whole post about my experiences (and I have, in fact, just not here). But I thought I’d share my favorite drugstore brand dry shampoo because it performs really well and also costs under $10, as compared to twice or triple that for premium brands. I really like Batiste. They have all kinds of scents, but I like the lighter scents, like this one.
Quick Thing #4
She’s not exactly under the radar, but do you all follow The Pasta Queen? She’s likely the kind of person you either love or hate, but I like her and her pastas look unbelievably delicious. I have to admit, I haven’t actually tried any of her recipes but at the very least, I enjoy watching her. This zucchini pasta makes my mouth water and I don’t even like zucchini like that.
Quick Thing #5
Sconces on the front rails of a bookshelf? Hmm…not sure, but I appreciate the boldness and “I do what I want” attitude of this. Have some fun people. Design doesn’t have to be so serious.
See you Monday, FOAS. I hope to have a VERY exciting post for you ready. Stay tuned. 🙂
