Thoughts on being a rule-follower during COVID-19. Am I alone here?
Once upon a time, in a bygone era I like to call B.I.P. (Before Instagram and Pinterest), I wanted to be a beauty editor. Design? Wasn’t even a thought. I read all the blogs, all the magazines, I had the internship, I did the freelance writing—in which I was paid in beauty products, of course. Beauty was my life. This was actually a byproduct of wanting to be in fashion, but knowing my size 12 figure would never quite be accepted (probably not as true anymore, but certainly felt true in the early 2000s). Mascara, though…that fit EVERYONE. I’ve tested A LOT of products in my time, but I’m a bit rusty when it comes to “new tech” in beauty. I don’t really know the players anymore or all the terminology. My brain replaced skincare for sofas, at least in terms of expert knowledge. But what I DO know is what I use to the last drop and buy over and over again. There are a few things to start with today: 1. Sundays are not traditionally slotted for design, but I felt the need to clarify a few things for you all after Wednesday’s paint post. 2. LA feels like the inside of my air fryer on Max Crisp, so the motivation to get up off my cool wood floors to write this, on my burning-hot laptop, is at an all-time low so bare with me. I’ll keep it brief. Today, I’m going to share with you my v2 moodboards as they stand. V2 because I took a look at v1 a few days ago and it was too heavy. I had picked rust-colored crushed velvet bedding, which looked awesome, but I knew in my heart of hearts that it just wasn’t for me. “As they stand” because I know my truth and these will change as I find some second-hand pieces (hopefully) or wake up in the middle of the night (or mid-shower, which is usually where these things happen) with an epiphany for masterful storage or the desperate need for a vanity or…something like that.
