Rabbit, Rabbit

Project 365, Day 32

Rabbit, rabbit (rabbit?) friends! It’s a new month, full of possibilities and, hopefully, lots of luck! As reader Emie said in yesterday’s post, I’m 1/12th of the way through Project 365 (just a number that feels a bit less intimidating than saying 31/365…agreed!). I actually quite like the month of February. I know for anyone in winter climates, it’s one of the most brutal times of the year with regards to the cold, but as someone who grew up in Florida and now lives in Southern California, I’ve never had blizzards mar my experience.

My birthday is in just a few days (likely a big part of the reason for my February affinities) and I always get pretty self-reflective around then. I’m sure this isn’t abnormal. I think about what my next year on earth may bring, and now with this daily project, I can’t help but wonder where I’ll be when I hit 2/12th of the way (1/6th for any fraction sticklers out there)! This is pretty exciting.

I mentioned yesterday that I was contemplating organizing my daily posts by a weekly theme, but I thought about it a bit more and I’m not sure I want that kind of cage. My inner long-time editor nature wants to organize, plan, create deadlines. For a moment, I thought it might help guide my brain a bit. But, eh, maybe not. Know yourself, people. Know yourself. I KNOW that it’ll start as a help and then quickly turn into a prison for me. So, nevermind all that. 🙂

I thought I’d start the month (well, really, end it because it’s currently January 31) by reevaluating my intentions I set four weeks ago and reset where needed. Tighten the screws.

Some things, I’ve kept top of mind. Other things, I literally totally forgot about (already). Guess that’s what happens when you don’t review the things you write down…I haven’t read any books. Haven’t done a lick of Spanish studying. Waking up early, ehhh….uh oh. Most of my mental energy this past month has been just writing, writing something, and following my physical therapy. But, I’m going to give myself another few projects this February: read one book (any suggestions?!?), and finalize my room design so I can start ordering some pieces. I think I can do both these things.

I find the key to success for me is progression. Do one thing, feel comfortable with it, then add another thing. A classic overachiever, I want to run to lift that 50 pound weight, when really I’m barely capable of lifting five pounds. Hence, there’s a lot of failure being set up. Kryptonite for that overachiever I mentioned (me). So…I currently feel like my “muscle” is well adapted to a lower, introductory weight, and it’s time to level up. Reading, designing. Two fun things!

This month will also bring the release of a project I worked on last fall that I’m pretty proud of accomplishing. It’s something I nearly said no to because physically, I was in rough shape. But it was a testament to my strengths. We can do more than we give ourselves credit for, with few exceptions. Remember that! Can’t wait to share this with you as soon as I can. Here’s a little (big) clue:

Anyhow, this is a lightweight post, but stay tuned. I have some fun things up my sleeve for this month.

See you tomorrow, friends!
