Tomato Season, a Fun Quick Watch, the Sandal of the Summer: 5 Quick Things

Project 365, Day 176/365

We did it again! Unbelievable! Friday has come. It never fails. Even when it feels like it’s crawling to you at the glacial pace, it does indeed come. Always. This week, I’m immensely thankful for the respite. If today were Tuesday, I’d dedicated a line of gratitude to it. What’s on everyone’s agenda for the weekend? We don’t have a whole lot planned. It would be nice to go to the beach and feel the sand between my toes. We actually haven’t gone in a few weeks and I’m seriously missing it. Yup, it’s decided, that’s what we’re doing. 🙂

Here’s what I was into this week:

Quick Thing #1

I’ve been following Joy the Baker since around 2011. She’s a delight. I saw her share a new addition to her linen apron line (which I didn’t even know she had, tbh) and I immediately fell for the very cute buffalo check. The two aprons I have are from a time where I thought ruffles were conducive to cooking, and thinking of getting something a bit less frilly and cumbersome. Wiping your watermelon juice hands on polka dot ruffles just doesn’t feel right anymore.

Quick Thing #2

ARE YOU TAKING ADVANTAGE OF TOMATO SEASON YET? That statement needed to be yelled. I’m sorry, but it did. June through September is glorious for three reasons: stone fruit, watermelon, tomatoes. Almost nothing else. I plan on scooping up some beautiful heirloom tomatoes this weekend and making this wonderful gazpacho. I made it last year and can’t wait to make it again.

Quick Thing #3

This appears to be the sandal style of the summer. At first, I didn’t really get it. They looked like something I would have picked up at the Bell’s Outlet when I was 14, but then I saw a few people wearing them and I was like…wait…I think they work. Plus, they look super comfortable. I may just grab a pair. I’m very gullible like that.

Quick Thing #4

Last week, I recommended Mare of Easttown (and then chatted in the comments about the show Hacks). Well now, I’m recommending Hacks, because we watched it and it was great. Much lighter than Mare, a fast watch and just a good time.

Quick Thing #5

You know I love a good, profound life reminder. Here’s one for this week. Word.

See you tomorrow, FOAS.
