Two Great Coats, a Wonderful Account to Follow, Checkerboard Floors: 5 Quick Things

We did it! We made it! It’s Friday, friends. One of the last few Fridays of the year, how about that? This weekend, Charles and I are taking maternity photos with a photographer friend of ours. I’m quite excited as we have exactly zero professional photos of the two of us. We never took wedding photos or engagement photos, so this will be new for us. Stay tuned for photos coming to a blog near you…at some point.

This week, I didn’t have much spare time outside of work to read or watch or buy anything new, so let’s see what I can cook up to share with you:

Quick Thing #1

I may or may not have shared these, but even if I had, it’s due time I share again. I’ve been getting the itch to do some baking, and I’ve made these double chocolate crinkle cookies a few years in a row. The batch is large, so I always share with a friend and omg are they good. They take a little time since you have to chill the dough then roll each cookie into a ball and then in confectioner’s sugar, but they are worth it. Scout’s honor.

Quick Thing #2

Anyone else love checkerboard floors as much as I do?

Quick Thing #3

One more thing from Instagram that I found so soothing: this account that’s just short, incredibly satisfying videos of an artist carving figures and such into the points of colored pencils. Tiny little masterpieces. What talent.

Quick Thing #4

LA doesn’t have any form of extreme winter by any stretch of the imagination, so I don’t have many coats, but it does get chilly (and occasionally downright cold) so I have to have something in my closet. I’ve had these two coats from Uniqlo for about three years and they are EXCELLENT: This down jacket is super lightweight but always keeps me warm. It’s packable, waterproof and just one of those things I bought not thinking that much about but ended up loving for the long haul. And the other one is a bit sharper and great to wear out at night with dressier clothing, to work (you know, if you’re not at home) or even out for errands. I find it runs a bit big. Where I’m normally a solid large, I got a medium and it’s perfect, so size down.

Quick Thing #5

Since first discovering Sia’s Christmas album a few years back, it’s one of my favorites to play on repeat all holiday season. Yes, I love all the classics, of course, but sometimes, you want to bop along to something a little different and fun. It’s become my go-to for the season. I stream it on Spotify, but I couldn’t find a way to link that so linking here on Amazon just for you to get some sense of it. I highly recommend if you’re looking for something fun.

See you Monday, FOAS.
